January 10, 2019

CSA is sending four staff to the Transportation Research Board’s 2019 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. January 13th-17th.  CSA will be represented by: Juan Montoya, Doug Barrett, Dr. Judy Rochat, and Lance Meister.  Lance is presenting a paper Wednesday January 16th titled: Overview of the Updated Federal Transit Administration Noise and Vibration Assessment Guidance Manual.

CSA is excited to share the news that our own Judy Rochat has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering!  Judy was elected “For service to INCE-USA as a Director and Vice President, Technical Activities. For outstanding engineering, noise and vibration control, applied research, and applications leading to quieter highway, rail, and aviation transportation systems throughout the United States, and for teaching others about transportation system noise.”

We are proud to have Judy as a part of the CSA team.  Congratulations!

CSA is pleased to welcome Shannon McKenna as a new Senior Associate.  Shannon is a registered Professional Engineer and has nine years of experience in transportation noise and vibration consulting. She has worked on a range of transit noise and vibration projects from the environmental phase through final design. Shannon holds a masters degree from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Signals Processing and is excited to extend CSA’s existing data processing capabilities while continuing her work in the transportation noise and vibration field.

CSA is pleased to welcome Judy Rochat as a new Principal Associate. She holds a doctorate in acoustics and has over 25 years of experience in transportation noise and vibration, including highway, rail, and aircraft projects. She has experience in both the public and private sectors, with projects ranging from prediction model development and policy support to research and environmental impact analyses. Her experience also includes extensive data collection and analyses, standards development, and professional course instruction.  Judy will be based in Los Angeles, CA.

CSA is excited to announce that we have hired Corinne Cereceres as our marketing manager.  Corinne comes to CSA with over 12 years’ advertising, marketing and proposal management experience in the A/E/C industry.  Her experience also includes strategic plan coordination and social media program development and implementation.  She will be based in Sacramento, CA and provide support to CSA offices nationwide.

The National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) recently posted on-line a series of free, on-demand webinar videos as a companion to NCHRP Report 791, “Supplemental Guidance on the Application of FHWA’s Traffic Noise Model (TNM).” Each of the nine videos is approximately 20 minutes long and describes one or more of the 12 special topic areas covered by the report. Doug Barrett of CSA is featured in Part 3 of the series, which provides guidance on using TNM to model area sources such as weigh stations, service plazas, park-and-ride lots, and toll facilities.

CSA is pleased to announce the addition of Dave Towers to our team as a Principal Associate.  Dave has over 40 years of experience as an acoustical consultant in a variety of areas including environmental, industrial, architectural, transportation and construction noise and vibration control.  He is an internationally recognized expert in the railway noise and vibration field, a co-author of guidance documents on noise and vibration impact assessment for both the U.S. Federal Transit Administration and U.S. Federal Railroad Administration and is a Member of the International Committee for the International Workshop on Railway Noise.  Please join us in welcoming Dave to CSA!

CSA is pleased to announce the addition of Joelle Suits to our team as an Associate.  Joelle has an MSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin with a specialty in Acoustics.  She has conducted research into fire equipment acoustics and the unique acoustical environments of fires.  Joelle will be working out of our Utah office.  Please join us in welcoming Joelle to CSA!

We are pleased to announce that our own Herb Singleton has become Board Certified in noise with the Institute of Noise Control Engineering.  Board Certification is comparable to a professional engineering license in acoustics and is the highest level recognized by INCE.  Congratulations Herb!

CSA is excited to announce that we were recently awarded a contract for up to 5 years by the National Transit Institute (NTI) to teach the FTA’s transit noise and vibration training course.  We are very excited to have this opportunity to continue to help others learn about transit noise and vibration.
